Sacre Coeur Residence in Holečkova Street in Prague

The project for a new housing development in Prague-Smíchov was situated directly above the Strahov road tunnel tubes. It was the location of these tubes that determined the pile foundation design. Pile feet had to be leant against bedrock down to the level below the tunnel footing bottom; it was also necessary to separate pile shafts from surrounding soil in order to prevent pile skin friction burdening the tunnel structures. Later on, pile foundation of the residence building was extended by securing of a small foundation pit braced with micro-riders.
