The port of Mělník, 1st pool – new protection wall of the container terminal
The purpose of a newly built angular bank wall is to protect vessels up to the level of the 2002 floods. There is also another aim of improving the conditions for using the Elbe waterway to transport containers that are brought to the port on water and then further distributed by freight transport. The new bank wall was carried out as an extension of the existing wall. Its length reaches 254 m and it was made of 12,5 m long sheet piles IIIn anchored with permanent anchors from a work platform made inside the port pool. The existing wall was additionally anchored with permanent anchors from the Jadran vessel.
